What is Swine Flu?

Commonly called swine flu, the real name of the virus is Influenza A(H1N1). It was first detected in Mexico in April 2009 and then rapidly spread worldwide. Swine flu is a new virus causing illness and is more aggressive symptom wise than a normal flu.


The Disease:

Swine Flu is highly contagious acute respiratory disorder. The transmission happens human-to-human like normal flu when particles of the virus released through coughs and sneeze are breath in. The spread of the pandemic virus is considered unstoppable and its severity is moderate.

 

Symptoms:

Precautions:

To avoid contracting the virus, some daily and simple precautions must be applied:
• Avoid Close Contacts with people sick looking! (who cough or who have fever)
• Regularly wash your hands with soap and water
• Cover your Nose while coughing or sneezing
• Wear a Mask covering your nose& mouth while caring for an ill person
• Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose
• Do not hug, kiss or shake hands while greeting
• If you have flu-like symptoms seek medical advice immediately.

Treatment:
The most efficient drugs to cure the virus are Tamiflu along with Relenza. Panadol is a must to control the fever and the aches and of course lots of sleep.
